Special Features:

This 16-year-old Ardmore combines the distillery’s smoky Highland style with a finish in a 1st Fill Pedro Ximénez Sherry Hogshead. The whisky was distilled on 2 November 2009 and bottled from single cask #2 on 15 July 2026 for Signatory Vintage’s Cask Strength Collection.

The cask yielded 314 bottles of 0.7 litres each. This single malt was bottled at a cask strength of 56.5%, without chill filtration or added colouring, and the edition is presented in a metal tin.

The PX influence contributes dark dried fruit, raisins, caramel and nutty sherry sweetness. Smoke, warming spices and oak give structure to the rich profile and lead into a long, slightly dry finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines pronounced smoke and dark dried fruit with candied dates, blackberries and caramel. Vanilla cream, malt, spicy oak, a touch of furniture polish and a hint of dark chocolate complement the powerful aromas.
• Palate: The whisky is powerful, full-bodied and oily on the palate. Raisins, rum-soaked dried fruit, plums, caramel cream, dark berries and nuts meet sweet sherry notes. Warming campfire smoke, cinnamon and cloves give the rich flavour spicy depth.
• Finish: The finish is long, warming, spicy and slightly dry. Dark fruit, oak and restrained sweetness transition into light ash and dark roasted notes of espresso and baking cocoa.

Distillery/Bottler:

Ardmore was founded in 1898 by Adam Teacher to produce peated Highland malt for Teacher’s Highland Cream. The distillery stands near Kennethmont in Aberdeenshire, at the highest point of the northern railway line. This connection once made it easier to transport supplies from Glasgow to the remote site. Its water still comes from natural springs on Knockandy Hill. Ardmore maintains a peated house style whose smoke remains clearly perceptible in this PX-influenced bottling.

Independent bottler Signatory Vintage was founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington and his brother. Its first release, a 1968 Glenlivet, established the company’s focus on individual casks and vintages. Andrew Symington acquired Edradour Distillery in 2002, and by 2007 Signatory had transferred its entire operation to the distillery’s site in Pitlochry. Its warehousing capacity there was subsequently expanded to more than 20,000 casks. For this Ardmore, Signatory was responsible for selecting the single cask, applying the PX finish and bottling it as part of the Cask Strength Collection.
