This bottling is part of Parcel No. 12 from the Reserve Casks range within The Single Malts of Scotland. Elixir Distillers combined whisky from seven refill bourbon barrels to create this small batch. Distilled at Aultmore in 2011, the single malt matured for twelve years and was bottled in 2023 at 48%. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Its overall profile combines apple and pear with floral notes, vanilla and malt. Citrus peel, honey, white pepper and oak add fresh and spicy accents, while the creamy texture provides a smooth counterpoint.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, dandelion flowers and grassy notes mingle with rounded vanilla. Mild ginger, lemon peel, cider apple, herbal honey and lingonberry follow.
• Palate: The whisky is creamy on the palate, with vanilla, buttery biscuits, peach and light toffee. Lemon peel, grapefruit and rhubarb provide a more tart counterpoint before white pepper, sweet oak and herbal notes emerge.
• Finish: The medium-length finish brings further citrus notes and liquorice, with hints of desiccated coconut and subtly sweet wood.

Distillery/Bottler:

Aultmore Distillery, which produced this single malt, was founded by Alexander Edward and began operating in 1897. The distillery is located in Scotland's Speyside region.

Elixir Distillers has managed The Single Malts of Scotland since 2002. For the range, the company selects Scottish casks for their individual character and releases the chosen whiskies as limited bottlings. For this small batch, the bottler combined whiskies from seven refill bourbon barrels.
