Heavily charred American white oak casks and filtration through a secret blend of vegetable charcoals shape BACARDÍ Carta Negra. The Maestros de Ron BACARDÍ marry the rums to create a medium-bodied blend.

Its aromatic range extends from sweet tropical fruit through butterscotch and vanilla to a smoky finish. Notes of charred oak and orange peel add further detail. Carta Negra suits bold cocktails such as the Tormenta Negra with ginger beer and lime, but can also be enjoyed neat.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, nutty impressions mingle with roasted aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, the rum is medium-bodied, with sweet notes of ripe tropical fruit complemented by vanilla and caramel.
• Finish: The finish brings smoky notes together with molasses and liquorice.

Distillery/Bottler:

The history of BACARDÍ began in 1862 in Santiago de Cuba, where Don Facundo Bacardí Massó bought a small distillery. For his rum, he developed a combination of two different distillates: aromatic Aguardiente and lighter Redestilado, distilled several times. By marrying them, he could bring together robust and more delicate qualities.

The house continues to use its own yeast culture, La Levadura BACARDÍ, charcoal filtration and carefully managed cask maturation. An important production site is located in Cataño on the coast of Puerto Rico, also home to the Casa BACARDÍ visitor centre.
