Special Features:

This Balmenach was distilled in February 2008 and matured for 15 years in a first-fill port pipe. Independent bottler Hart Brothers bottled the whisky as a single-cask release at 54.6% in August 2023. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

The first-fill port pipe adds complex fruit notes to the floral, malty profile. Heather, wildflowers, raisins and dried fruit are joined by ripe red fruit and subtle spice.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines floral impressions of wildflowers and heather with robust malt.
• Palate: Sweet raisins and dense dried fruit create a full-bodied mouthfeel on the palate.
• Finish: Concentrated dried fruit continues to shape the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Balmenach is one of Speyside's oldest distilleries. James MacGregor obtained a licence in 1824 and established the distillery under the name Balminoch at Balminoch Farm. The single malt for this bottling was distilled there in February 2008.

Brothers Iain and Donald Hart founded Hart Brothers Limited in 1964 as a wine and spirits wholesaler and Scotch whisky blender. As an independent bottler, the company sources rare casks of malt and grain whisky, allows the whiskies to mature further and selects them for single-cask bottlings after careful tasting. Hart Brothers adds nothing other than pure water to its malt whisky before bottling.
