Special features: This 12-year-old single malt from the renowned Speyside distillery Balmenach has been bottled at cask strength by Best Dram. It matured in a first fill Pedro Ximénez sherry barrel, giving it an intense sherry sweetness and complex aromas. With only 149 bottles, this release is a rare rarity for connoisseurs and collectors.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Pickled plums in milk chocolate, accompanied by raw cane sugar, a hint of block malt, and a smoothie of ripe blackberries, black cherries, and black currants. Later, a pleasant sweetness develops.
- Palate: Dark sweetness from lightly caramelized raw cane sugar and milk chocolate. As it progresses, the dark fruits re-emerge, complemented by a hint of spices and a touch of thyme, before the dark sweetness dominates again.
- Finish: Medium-long, dark sweet, spicy, and warming, with delicate fruity notes.
