Special features: This 8-year-old single malt whisky was distilled in 2015 at the renowned Balmenach Distillery in Speyside and bottled in 2023 by the independent bottler Hart Brothers. The maturation took place in carefully selected casks, with no coloring added and no chill filtration to preserve the authenticity and purity of the distillate.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Inviting aromas of sweet licorice, spicy ginger, and earthy notes, accompanied by delicate citrus and apricot tones as well as a hint of sweet mint.
- Palate: Full-bodied and creamy with sweet butter, peppery accents, and a further presence of sweet licorice along with subtle anise notes.
- Finish: Spicy herbal bitterness, soft sweet licorice, and an overall warming, spicy aftertaste.
Distillery/Bottler: The Balmenach Distillery, founded in 1824 by James MacGregor, is located in the heart of Speyside and is known for its characterful single malts. After a closure in 1993, the distillery was taken over by Inver House Distillers in 1998 and production was resumed. Hart Brothers, an independent bottler based in East Kilbride, Scotland, is known for selecting and bottling special single malts from various distilleries.
