Special features: The Balvenie 12 Year Double Wood is a prime example of the craftsmanship of the Balvenie Distillery. This single malt undergoes a unique maturation process: First, it matures for 11.5 years in traditional American oak casks, which impart mild vanilla and spice notes. This is followed by a nine-month finishing in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, which give the whisky additional depth and fruity, honey-like aromas. Finally, the whisky is married in large oak casks, known as "Tuns," for three to four months to harmoniously blend the various flavor nuances.
