Balvenie 16 y.o. French Oak

Special features: The Balvenie 16-year-old French Oak is a single malt whisky from the renowned Balvenie Distillery in Speyside, Scotland. After aging for 16 years in American oak barrels, it was further refined in barrels made from French oak that had previously been filled with Pineau des Charentes. This special finishing contributes to the diversity of flavors. The whisky is offered in an elegant tube and has an alcohol content of 47.6% vol.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: The nose is characterized by fresh and ripe pears, red apples, and apricots, underlined with delicate sawn oak and a sweet flan base. Additionally, notes of vanilla cream dough, sliced strawberries, as well as honey-coated blueberries and a hint of waffle can be found.
  • Palate: The palate shows a medium body with juicy orchard fruits, blueberry yogurt, and sweet vanilla cookies dusted with powdered sugar. Delicate allspice and green apple core notes round off the tasting experience.
  • Finish: The finish is medium-long and focuses on the gently drying green apple peel.

Distillery/Bottler: The Balvenie Distillery was founded in 1892 by William J. Grant in Dufftown, Scotland. It is known for its artisanal methods, which are still maintained today. The Balvenie 16 years French Oak is an example of the distillery's artful maturation technique, which combines both traditional and innovative processes.
