Bareksten's Navy Strength version combines a high alcohol content with a full-bodied, creamy character. It uses potato spirit as its base, complemented by Norwegian botanicals. At 58%, the gin reveals liquorice, sweet berries and anise alongside juniper, as well as earthy and sweet impressions. The creamy texture persists.

Citrus fruit and delicate floral notes complement this spicy foundation. The gin lends itself to a Dry Martini or as a distinctive base for other gin cocktails. It is bottled without chill filtration or colouring in a 0.7-litre bottle. The black bottle features subtle branch motifs.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Sweet candied orange peel meets delicate floral notes on the nose. Grapefruit adds to the citrus aroma.
• Palate: The gin feels smooth on the palate despite its 58% alcohol content. Sweet orange and lemon tea show medium to pronounced intensity, accompanied by herbal pine notes.
• Finish: The long finish combines peppery spice with an assertive bitterness. Floral notes remain woven into it.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bareksten is produced by Oss Craft Distillery in Norway. Master Distiller Stig Bareksten is the person behind the brand. His experiences in the forests near Bergen and on the family farm in Florø shaped his interest in gathering and processing native plants. Before launching his gin, he spent almost five years developing the products and carried out at least 250 trial distillations.

Norway's west coast provides the geographical setting for Bareksten's spirits. The distillery uses locally sourced potatoes as its base and distils slowly. The plant life surrounding the distillery also plays an important role: 18 of the 26 botanicals used for Bareksten grow nearby.
