This eight-year-old Speyside single malt was distilled in 2016 and finished in Justino's Madeira Wine Barriques. Murray McDavid bottled it in 2025 for the Cask Partnership Series at 55.7%. Limited to 975 bottles, this release has neither added colouring nor chill filtration.

The Madeira finish brings together dried fruit, peach and pastries with honey, grapes and dark caramel. Nuts, bitter orange and dry spices balance the rich fruit through to the finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines dried fruit, peach and pastries with honey, grapes and delicate spice.
• Palate: On the palate, green apple and toffee mingle with caramelised nuts, bitter orange and sweet Madeira fruit.
• Finish: The finish is long and warming, leaving dark caramel, dry spices, nuts and orange peel behind.

Distillery/Bottler:

The malt in this release was distilled in 2016 at Benrinnes Distillery. Located near Aberlour on the northern slope of Ben Rinnes, the distillery traces its history back to 1826, while the present site was established after a flood destroyed the original premises in 1835. Benrinnes used partial triple distillation until 2007. Its cold worm-tub condensers remain in use, lending weight to the spirit and contributing to its robust character.

Independent bottler Murray McDavid was founded in 1994 by Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin and Gordon Wright and is now based at Coleburn Distillery in Speyside. The company focuses on the selective further maturation of Scotch whisky in carefully chosen casks, including those from winemakers. For this Benrinnes, Murray McDavid used Madeira barriques from Justino's and released the whisky as part of its Cask Partnership Series.
