Special Features:

Berlin Dry Gin places flowers and regional botanicals alongside its classic juniper base. Elderflower, mallow blossom, woodruff and fresh cucumber give it a soft, floral and fresh character. Many of these ingredients are grown regionally and picked by hand. Juniper provides the foundation while deliberately leaving room for the other botanicals, placing this bottling within the New Western Dry Gin style. Grassy notes and a subtle spiciness complement the floral aromas.

The botanicals are macerated over several weeks and distilled separately. A partner in Berlin-Kaulsdorf then combines the individual distillates with the base spirit, which is made from German wheat. The production process includes sevenfold filtration. Production is organised into editions of 9,999 bottles each, filled, numbered and sealed by hand. This version contains 0.35 litres at 43.3% alcohol.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The intense aroma combines apple and grapefruit with rose petals.
• Palate: The palate reveals sweet, floral flavours of elderflower and woodruff.
• Finish: The gin shows some heat on the finish, yet remains rounded.

Distillery/Bottler:

Berliner Brandstifter was founded by Vincent Honrodt, who launched the Berlin spirits brand in 2009. His inspiration came from his great-grandfather, who had made spirits from regional grain and sugar beet for family and friends. Berlin Dry Gin joined the range in 2013.

The brand macerates and distils its botanicals separately. This allows the individual aromatic components to be carefully balanced when they are brought together. Many ingredients come from Berlin and the surrounding area; a partner in Berlin-Kaulsdorf handles blending and bottling. Berliner Brandstifter also works with Berlin workshops for people with disabilities on pre-production tasks.
