Berlin Dry Gin from Berliner Brandstifter combines a juniper base with prominent floral and fresh botanical notes. Elderflower, mallow blossom, woodruff and cucumber give it a regional signature. The botanicals are grown on farmland in Berlin and picked by hand. The miniature contains 0.1 litres at 43.3% alcohol.

The botanicals are macerated for several weeks and then distilled individually. A partner company in Berlin-Kaulsdorf combines the individual distillates with the base alcohol. This comes from the wheat distillate used for the brand’s own Korn spirit; the wheat is grown exclusively in Germany. The production process also includes sevenfold filtration.

With its combination of juniper, flowers and freshness, this gin belongs to the New Western Dry Gin style, in which the other botanicals take a more prominent role. Apple, grapefruit and rose petals add to the aromatic profile, while the palate shows floral sweetness. It can be enjoyed over ice or in a gin and tonic.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, juniper meets delicate elderflower and mallow blossom. The aroma also recalls freshly cut grass, with a subtle note of woodruff.
• Palate: The gin feels supple on the palate. Spicy juniper and cool cucumber notes give way to delicate summer floral flavours.
• Finish: The long, clean finish leaves lingering floral flavours and a subtle herbal note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Vincent Honrodt founded Berliner Brandstifter GmbH in 2009. His inspiration came from his family history: his great-grandfather Ernst-August was already making spirits from regional ingredients in the early 20th century. The brand continues this connection to its origins through botanicals from Berlin and the surrounding area.

Berlin Dry Gin joined the range in 2013. For its gin range, Berliner Brandstifter works with a partner in Berlin-Kaulsdorf and produces editions of 9,999 bottles each. The bottles are numbered and sealed by hand.
