Special Features:

The third Father's Day edition of Big Peat brings together different Islay single malts in a smoky, maritime Blended Malt. The blend includes whiskies from Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen. Released in 2024 as part of the Big Peat World Tour series, this special edition is limited to 960 bottles.

Douglas Laing bottled the whisky at 48% without chill filtration or added colouring. The edition comes in a tube containing a 0.7-litre bottle. Its yellow-and-black bottle design features a Super-Dad motif. A pronounced peat-smoke profile meets maritime saltiness; the edition has a stated level of 40 ppm.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, powerful peat smoke combines with dried seaweed and honey-glazed ham. A little ash adds to the smoky, savoury notes.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied, fresh and powerful on the palate. It opens sweetly before powerful smoke, chimney soot and fresh lemon peel take over. Malt, with a little leather and liquorice, rounds out the flavour.
• Finish: The finish is long and dry. A salty sea breeze, beach-bonfire ash and charcoal shape the lingering flavours, which also retain a fresh maritime character.

Founded in 1948, Douglas Laing is an independent Scottish family-owned whisky business now in its third generation. Its areas of focus include selecting individual casks and blending malt whiskies in small batches. Big Peat belongs to the Remarkable Regional Malts range, whose bottlings represent different Scottish whisky regions; all of Big Peat's malt components come from Islay.

For Big Peat, Douglas Laing marries malts from distilleries including Caol Ila, Bowmore, Ardbeg and Port Ellen. Within the range, Caol Ila contributes sweetness, Bowmore provides balance, Ardbeg adds a medicinal, earthy character and Port Ellen brings elegance. These contributions reflect the brand's concept of bringing different Islay distillery styles together in a Blended Malt.
