Fully ripe Williams-Christ pears from the area around Lindau on Lake Constance form the basis of this organic fruit brandy. On the day they are harvested, the pears are washed in cold water, destemmed and mashed. The mash, including the pips, then ferments for four weeks at cool temperatures with natural yeast.

The spirit is distilled twice in a wood-fired copper still. Only the heart of the distillation is selected for the finished brandy. Feingeisterei adds no sugar, flavourings or other additives. This clear pear brandy is bottled at 40% alcohol in 0.5-litre bottles.

Alongside ripe pear fruit, there are notes of cinnamon blossom and delicate bitter almond. Quince, white flowers and a hint of citrus add further aromatic detail. For drinking neat, serve at 18–20 °C in a small Burgundy glass. The brandy can also be served with goat’s cheese.

• Palate: A full, persistent pear flavour unfolds on the palate. The brandy is balanced and has a distinct presence.

Distillery/Bottler:

Feingeisterei has produced spirits at Gut Basthorst since 2012. Martina and Fabian Rohrwasser are the people behind the business. The distillery distils its own spirits using wood-fired equipment. Its raw materials are organically grown, and it uses no added flavourings or additives. Alongside fruit brandies and Geist spirits, its range includes gin, Korn, rum and whisky.
