Black Bull Kyloe brings malt and grain whisky together in a blend with a high proportion of malt. Its name refers to Kyloe cattle, which are adapted to the harsh climate of the Scottish Highlands and islands. Duncan Taylor reflects this connection with a robust whisky bottled at 50% alcohol, without chill filtration.

The whisky contains no added colouring and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle. Its non-smoky character leaves room for orchard fruit, sweet notes and nutty accents.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, caramelised apple, pear and clementine mingle with brown sugar and toasted oak.
• Palate: The palate reveals hazelnuts and milk chocolate, accompanied by malt and raisins.
• Finish: The medium-to-long finish lingers with vanilla, cream and oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

Duncan Taylor was founded in Glasgow in 1938 and initially developed as a cask merchant and broker. Under Abe Rosenberg, who took over the company in the 1960s, it built up extensive stocks of single malt and single grain whiskies. This involvement with both types of whisky provides a fitting background to the Black Bull blends.

Today, Duncan Taylor is an independent bottler and cask merchant based in Huntly, Aberdeenshire. Alongside blends, its range includes single-cask bottlings of malt and grain whisky. The Black Bull brand dates back to 1864 and was originally produced by George Willsher & Co in Dundee. Duncan Taylor carries this history forward, blending and bottling Black Bull whiskies.
