Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 46.7% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No
Special Features:
Within the Galloway Collection, whose whiskies mature in first-fill casks, this 16-year-old Bladnoch spends its entire maturation exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks. Master Distiller Dr Nick Savage selects each cask individually.
Raisins, sultanas and orange peel shape the fruity opening. Fruitcake, dark chocolate and cinnamon define the rich palate before a long, slightly dry finish.
This official bottling is offered at 46.7% in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no colouring.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose reveals woody spices, rich raisins and sultanas, with hints of orange peel and chocolate.
- Palate: On the palate, raisins and other dried fruits combine with rich fruitcake, sweet cinnamon and chocolate.
- Finish: The finish is rich and long, fading with a slight dryness.
Distillery/Bottler:
Bladnoch Distillery produces and bottles this 16-year-old single malt as an official release in the Galloway Collection. Master Distiller Dr Nick Savage is responsible for selecting the casks.
The history of this Lowland distillery began in 1817, when John and Thomas McClelland received a licence to distil at their Bladnoch farm. Several generations of the family expanded and modernised the distillery, which became known as the “Queen of the Lowlands” during its heyday. Bladnoch is Scotland’s southernmost distillery and uses water from the River Bladnoch as well as malt from British producers.
