Special Features:

For Exceptional Cask Edition #12, Signatory Vintage selected a Blair Athol distilled in 2007 and matured for 17 years in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts. Bottled in 2025, it combines the Highland malt’s nutty, malty character with pronounced sherry notes. Its 57.1% bottling strength corresponds to the edition’s namesake 100 Proof.

Toasted almonds, dark raisins and orange shape its fruity, nutty character, while espresso, cinnamon and oak lend a spicy side. Dark chocolate and leather emerge in the long finish. The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, toasted almonds and dark raisins mingle with orange and orange marmalade, accompanied by a note of oak.
• Palate: The whisky feels full-bodied and velvety on the palate. Espresso and cinnamon meet oak spice, while dried fruit adds to its sherry character.
• Finish: The long, slightly dry finish lingers with dark chocolate and leather, accompanied by gentle oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

Blair Athol Distillery has produced whisky in Pitlochry since 1798. Its nutty, fruity malt is released as a single malt and is also a defining component of Bell’s Original. The distillery uses water from the Allt Dour and unpeated malt; fermentation takes around 50 hours.

Signatory Vintage was founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington and his brother. The independent bottler later moved its operations to the Edradour Distillery site in Pitlochry and focuses on selecting individual casks and small batches of casks. For this edition, Signatory Vintage selected the first-fill Oloroso sherry butts and bottled the Blair Athol matured in them.
