Finishing in four first-fill Oloroso sherry butts shapes this release from The Monuments of Scotland edition. Distilled on 1 December 2015, the Blair Athol matured for a total of ten years before Signatory Vintage combined the contents of butts 2, 6, 7 and 8 into a small batch and bottled it at 50.8% in April 2026.

The edition associates the whisky with the Glenfinnan Viaduct. The bottling retains its natural colour and was not chill-filtered.

On the sensory side, juicy raisins, orange peel and malt combine with sweet Oloroso influence, toffee and oak spice. The whisky remains fruity, malty and warm with spice as it fades.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Juicy raisins take centre stage on the nose, accompanied by fresh orange peel and malt. Warm cask notes underscore the classic Oloroso character.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and expressive on the palate. Sweet raisins and candied orange peel combine with malty accents, toffee and warming Oloroso spice.
• Finish: The finish is medium to long. Dried fruit, orange peel and malt fade slowly alongside spicy oak and pleasant warmth.

Distillery/Bottler:

Blair Athol Distillery is located in Pitlochry at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands and has produced whisky since 1798. It uses water from the Allt Dour and unpeated malt. The wort contributes to the underlying cereal character, while the yeast used during fermentation, which lasts around 50 hours, also helps shape nutty and fruity notes.

Andrew Symington founded Signatory Vintage with his brother in 1988 as an independent bottler. Since 2007, the business has been based entirely on the Edradour Distillery site in Pitlochry. For this Blair Athol, Signatory Vintage was responsible for selecting the four Oloroso butts, the finish and bottling them together as a small batch.
