This sherry is made from selected Palomino grapes and initially ages for four years under flor yeast before continuing to age oxidatively. With an alcohol content of 17%, it provides a solid foundation for its complex character. The bottling is done as the original bottling of Bodegas La Cigarrera, which has been family-owned since 1758.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Intense and fine with fruity notes of orange peel and golden raisins, mingling with salty and balsamic hints. Almonds, walnuts, and light herbal notes are consistently present.
- Palate: On the palate, it initially appears less sharp – a gentle entry that begins with dried fruits and flowers, with a vague sweetness. However, it gains intensity over time, with growing salty and bitter notes as well as some coastal notes from Sanlúcar.
- Finish: The finish shows a long, juicy aftertaste with dried fruits and fine oak.
