A finish in Pinot Noir barriques from Burgundy brings a wine-influenced dimension to this 19-year-old Bowmore alongside its Islay character. The single malt first matures in American ex-bourbon casks. This bottling is part of the travel retail collection.

Alongside citrus and honey are red fruit, a trace of sea salt and gentle peat smoke. The whisky is offered at 43% in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, pistachio, Seville orange and a hint of lemon mingle with manuka honey. Ripe cherry, a salty note and gentle smoke follow, while oak and dark chocolate remain subtle.
• Palate: On the palate, green apple and honey feel fresh and juicy. Soft, creamy brioche and a light sugary note meet red fruit, sea salt, spicy charred oak and peat smoke.
• Finish: The long finish carries lingering dried fruit, a note of sea salt and gentle peat smoke. A hint of dry oak adds an austere edge.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Bowmore Distillery on Islay was first mentioned in written records in 1779. It still malts some of its barley on its own malting floors, turning it by hand. Peat smoke shapes the malt during kilning. The distillery also has the No. 1 Vaults on the shore of Loch Indaal. Bowmore makes and bottles this single malt itself as an official bottling; the brand belongs to Suntory Global Spirits Inc.
