Braes of Glenlivet 1991/2024 - 32 Years - Margaux Wine Cask - Murray McDavid
Special features: This 32-year-old single malt whisky from Speyside was distilled by the Braeval Distillery, formerly known as Braes of Glenlivet, in 1991. After a long maturation in bourbon hogsheads, it received a four-year finish in fine Margaux wine casks, giving it a special depth and complexity. It was bottled in spring 2024 in a limited edition of 690 bottles.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Sweet malt, caramel apple, and mild tobacco.
Palate: Forest fruits, buttery malt, and floral honey.
Finish: Oily, creamy grain, and lingering berries.
Distillery/Bottler: The Braeval Distillery, founded in 1973, is located at an altitude of 355 meters, making it the highest distillery in Scotland. It was originally built by Chivas Brothers Ltd. to supply malt for blends like Chivas Regal. Today, it is owned by Pernod Ricard and is known for its light and floral single malts.
