Special Features:

This ten-year-old expression combines Bruichladdich’s unpeated house style with a stated age, setting it apart from the earlier bottling without an age statement. Every whisky used is at least ten years old. Made from 100% Scottish barley, it matures exclusively on Islay and is bottled at 50% without chill filtration or added colouring.

For each batch, Master Blender Adam Hannett creates an individual recipe from selected cask types and whiskies distilled in different years. Rather than pursuing absolute uniformity, the composition can evolve subtly according to the available barley origins and casks. The bottling strength brings the barley character clearly to the fore and supports the interplay of citrus fruit, stone and tropical fruit, barley sugar, marzipan, coconut, oak and maritime minerality.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with ripe orchard fruit, toasted oak and floral notes. Lemon peel and orange meet maritime freshness and a subtle suggestion of warm sand, while apricot, mango and ripe peach are accompanied by vanilla, crème brûlée, toffee and warm gingerbread.
• Palate: The whisky is smooth and rounded on the palate. Sweet orange, candied peel and stone fruit combine with barley sugar and toasted bread; marzipan, coconut, ground almonds and cedar add warmth and depth, while rose, geranium and a pinch of salt provide fresh accents.
• Finish: Fine minerality and maritime freshness combine with a delicate floral fragrance in the finish. Ripe stone fruit and lively citrus notes linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bruichladdich Distillery distils this single malt on Islay, where the whisky also matures in its entirety. For each batch, Master Blender Adam Hannett selects and marries the components before the distillery bottles the whisky on site as a distillery bottling. The batch-specific recipe development, whisky production and bottling therefore all remain on Islay.

The Harvey brothers founded Bruichladdich in 1881. After closing in 1994, the distillery was revived in 2001 by Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin and Jim McEwan. Much of its Victorian equipment remains in use. Bruichladdich has belonged to Rémy Cointreau since its acquisition in 2012.
