Bud Spencer Feuerwasser uses a barley malt spirit as the base for its combination of cinnamon and chilli. The new-make spirit is distilled twice in authentic Scottish pot stills, then enhanced with natural cinnamon and chilli notes. The result is a liqueur bottled at 33% alcohol, with a label depicting Bud Spencer as the hard-hitting film legend.

The liqueur has a bright reddish-mahogany colour and can be enjoyed neat, as a shot or in mixed drinks. The bottle contains 0.7 litres. Store it in a cool, dark place and consume within six months of opening.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Intense cinnamon and sweet vanilla sugar lead on the nose. Chilli powder and a little cardamom join them, accompanied by baked apple pieces, raisins and a hint of clove.
• Palate: On the palate, lavish vanilla-cream sweetness meets plenty of cinnamon and warming chilli flakes. The mouthfeel becomes increasingly oily, while orange and cardamom add fruity accents to the spice.
• Finish: Sweet warmth, chilli, cloves and cardamom linger through the long finish. Dry cinnamon and a hint of tobacco leaf add further accents.

Distillery/Bottler:

St. Kilian Distillers is based in Rüdenau, near Miltenberg on the River Main. In 2012, Andreas Thümmler and Irish whisky expert David F. Hynes developed plans for a distillery inspired by Scottish and Irish traditions. After four years of construction, the first spirit flowed in 2016 from the two copper Forsyth stills, each with a capacity of 6000 litres. The equipment also includes wooden fermentation vessels. In May 2019, First Kilian became the distillery’s first three-year-old single malt whisky. For Feuerwasser, however, the distillery uses its barley malt new-make spirit as the liqueur base.
