After 25 years in sherry casks, this 25-year-old Bunnahabhain expresses the non-smoky side of Islay. This official bottling is released at 46.3%, without colouring or chill filtration, and presented in a wooden box.

In the glass, the whisky opens with rich sherry, caramel and polished leather. Roasted nuts and sweet berries complement its mature aromas. Cream and malt give the palate a smooth, broad texture; on the finish, the sweetness recedes, making way for drier, spiced oak and a lingering influence of the cask.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bunnahabhain distilled this whisky, which then matured for 25 years in sherry casks before being released as an official bottling. The distillery was founded in 1881 beside a remote bay on Islay’s north-east coast and began production in 1883; the surrounding settlement developed alongside it. Unusually tall, pear-shaped stills and a predominantly unpeated house style give Bunnahabhain its distinctive position among Islay distilleries.
