Bunnahabhain Toiteach A Dha
Special features: The Bunnahabhain Toiteach A Dha, pronounced "Toch-ach ah-ghaa", which means "Smoky Two" in Gaelic, is the second release of the smoky Bunnahabhain. Compared to its predecessor, this bottling has a higher proportion of sherry casks, resulting in a more intense complexity. The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no coloring to preserve the natural flavors and color.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Distinct peat smokiness, accompanied by hints of sherry and robust oak.
- Palate: Warming peat notes, combined with sweet Oloroso sherry flavors and rich oak, rounded off with a pinch of pepper.
- Finish: Long and robust, with lingering smoky and peppery notes.
Distillery/Bottler: The Bunnahabhain Distillery, founded in 1881, is located at the mouth of the Margadale River on the Isle of Islay. The name "Bunnahabhain" means "mouth of the river" and reflects the geographical location of the distillery. Known for its unpeated whiskies, Bunnahabhain also produces smoky variants like the Toiteach A Dha, which emphasizes the smoky side of the distillery.
