Special Features:

This Caol Ila is a ten-year-old single-cask bottling from a PX sherry hogshead. The spirit was distilled on 25 February 2016 and bottled by Claxton's on 27 April 2026 at a cask strength of 55.7% ABV. The cask yielded 332 bottles; the whisky is natural in colour and non-chill-filtered.

Its heavily smoky Islay character is accompanied by dark fruit, maritime notes and chocolatey, spicy facets. Raisin and plum sit alongside peat smoke, dark chocolate, cocoa and spicy oak.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe plums and raisins take centre stage on the nose. Sweet sherry notes, subtle peat smoke and maritime accents complete the bouquet.
• Palate: The whisky is sweet and syrupy on the palate. Dark chocolate and cocoa meet spicy oak and balanced, slightly earthy peat.
• Finish: The finish is long and sweet. Dry oak spice, smoke and a subtle sherry sweetness linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1846, Caol Ila Distillery stands in a bay near Port Askaig on Islay. Its modern facilities allow it to produce malts with different levels of peat. Claxton's is an independent bottler specialising in single casks and carries out its cask work at the Dalswinton Bond. Bottling takes place once the cask influence and the character of the spirit have reached the desired balance; Claxton's uses neither colouring nor chill filtration. This Caol Ila was also bottled at its natural colour and without chill filtration.
