Special Features:

Maturation in a port cask defines this single-cask release from Coillmór. Liebl distilled the whisky on 4 May 2011 and bottled it from cask 523 after nine years, on 14 May 2020. The release comprises 842 bottles of 0.7 litres each. The single malt is bottled at its cask strength of 59.2%.

The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. It comes in dark blue gift packaging with gold lettering.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, gentle smoke accompanies aromas of red raisins, malt sweets and creamy pudding.
• Palate: Red-fruited port initially takes centre stage on the palate. Smoky accents, vanilla pods and malt then emerge.
• Finish: Notes of vanilla ice cream and hot raspberries linger through the medium-length finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Coillmór comes from the Liebl whisky distillery in Bad Kötzting in the Bavarian Forest. Its Gaelic name means “great forest” and refers to these origins. Gerhard Liebl jun. has been distilling whisky from malted barley there since 2006; the first bottlings were released in 2009.

Liebl uses small pot stills for a two-stage process comprising a stripping run and a spirit run. For Coillmór, the distillery uses Bavarian barley malt and spring water from the Kaitersberg. Its maturation programme includes American white oak as well as former sherry, port, Bordeaux and bourbon casks. For the limited Single Cask editions, Liebl selects individual casks from a single vintage.
