Compañero Gran Reserva brings together two different distillation styles: the Jamaican rum is distilled in pot stills, while the Trinidadian component comes from distillation columns. Both are made from molasses. The blend combines the bold fruitiness of the Jamaican component with the smoother character of the rum from Trinidad.

The blend contains rums aged for up to 15 years. Neither sugar nor colouring is added. This miniature contains 0.05 litres at 40% alcohol and comes without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers bold tropical fruit notes shaped by the Jamaican pot-still rum.
• Palate: The palate opens with a fruity, funky character. The smoother, elegant character of the rum from Trinidad then emerges, with oak and vanilla.
• Finish: The finish is long and smooth, with vanilla.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Danish company 1423 ApS is behind Compañero. Its origins date back to 2008, when a group of whisky-loving friends discovered rum at a fair. Their first blend brought together rum from Barbados and Trinidad; it was bottled in November 2008 and released in early 2009. The number of the sample they selected, 1423, became the company name.

From these beginnings, 1423 developed its own brands and rum projects, including Compañero and the 24 Days of Rum tasting calendar. Compañero means companion in Spanish. Alongside rum, the range includes liqueurs and other spirits with different Caribbean origins and flavour profiles.
