Special Features:
Hedonism 2026 is the oldest and rarest release in the series to date. This limited blended grain Scotch whisky contains components aged for up to 31 years. For the first time, whiskies from antique sherry casks join the selected bourbon-cask components, adding further depth, structure and maturity to the creamy, elegant style.
The recipe comprises 69.7% single grain whisky and 30.3% blended grain whisky. At its core are 31.2% Port Dundas from a refill sherry butt and 30.0% Port Dundas from a recharred American oak hogshead. These are joined by 14.1% of a Hedonism 2025 vatting matured predominantly in first-fill bourbon barrels, 13.1% of a blended grain parcel finished for one year in first-fill bourbon barrels, 5.4% Cameronbridge from a first-fill bourbon barrel, 3.1% of a Hedonism 2024 vatting matured predominantly in first-fill bourbon barrels, and 3.1% Strathclyde from a refill bourbon barrel.
Compass Box bottled the 2026 edition in November 2025 at 46% ABV. The release comprises 13,218 bottles; the whisky retains its natural colour and was not chill-filtered. Multidisciplinary artist Emma Hack designed the label, with Scottish actor and director Karen Gillan as her muse.
Caffè Latte, butterscotch and orange cream open on the palate. Nougat, toasted hazelnut and delicate wood sugars follow before lingering milk chocolate shapes the silky conclusion.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose is warm and rich. Fruitcake, cloves, dates and soft toffee combine gentle sweetness with aromatic dryness.
- Palate: The palate is smooth, melt-in-the-mouth and dense. Freshly brewed coffee and creamy toffee take the lead, accompanied by dry sherry nuances, toasted almonds and tart raisins.
- Finish: The finish is rounded and lingering. A creamy cocoa note lends it a soft, subtly chocolatey elegance.
Distillery/Bottler:
Compass Box launched Hedonism in 2000 as the world's first blended grain Scotch whisky, placing mature Scotch grain whiskies firmly in the spotlight. Since 2023, Hedonism has appeared as a limited annual edition whose composition offers a fresh interpretation of its familiar style each year. For the 2026 edition, the team led by Lead Whiskymaker Angela D'Orazio layered selected whisky parcels from bourbon and sherry casks into a richer, darker whole.
