Special Features:

Cragganmore represents Speyside in the Classic Malts Selection. This twelve-year-old Single Malt matures in former bourbon casks and is bottled at 40%. Its combination of floral aromas, pronounced malt and restrained smoke gives it a distinctive character within the range.

The body is firm and rounded, with a light to medium weight. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet floral scents mingle with herbs and flowers reminiscent of a riverbank. A little honey and vanilla add to the aromas.
• Palate: Pronounced malt leads on the palate. Subtle hints of sweetish wood smoke and sandalwood complement the flavour.
• Finish: The long finish remains malt-driven, accompanied by light smoke and a subtle sweetness.

Distillery/Bottler:

John Smith founded Cragganmore in 1869. Proximity to the Strathspey Railway played an important part in choosing the site: known as the Whisky Line, the railway connected Speyside and Dufftown. The distillery is in Ballindalloch and draws its water from the Craggan Burn, which flows directly past it.

The distillery uses two different fermentation times, 60 and 90 hours, to create different flavour profiles. Another technical distinction is its unusually flat stills, around which John Smith designed the distillery. It uses traditional worm tubs to condense the alcohol vapour: coiled cooling pipes run through tanks of water. This equipment remains in use at Cragganmore.
