Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 48% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No
Special Features:
Reserve Cask Parcel 9 brings together Dailuaine whiskies distilled in 2006, 2010 and 2011. Oliver Chilton selected six hogsheads and one bourbon cask for this small batch, which carries a ten-year age statement.
Elixir Distillers bottled the whisky in 2022 under The Single Malts of Scotland brand at 48%. It contains no added colouring and was not chill-filtered.
The aromatic profile ranges from malt, ripe mango and candied pineapple to creamy nougat. Toasted almonds, dates, peach and elderflower complement its fruity, nutty character, while green apple adds a fresh accent.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose reveals malted barley and vanilla. Honeyed peanuts and buttered toast combine with pear, peach and honeydew melon, while lemon preserve and a pinch of pepper provide contrasting accents.
- Palate: The palate offers vanilla cream, honeyed breakfast cereals, cashews and lemon sorbet. Mirabelle plum preserve and sweet bread are accompanied by cinnamon and pepper.
- Finish: The medium-length finish combines toasted nuts and almonds with honey, vanilla, mocha and citrus notes. Allspice and oak provide a spicy close.
Distillery/Bottler:
Built in 1851, Dailuaine Distillery is located in Speyside. Only around 2% of its annual production of approximately three million litres goes into its own bottlings; most of the output is used for blended Scotch whisky.
As an independent bottler, Elixir Distillers creates, marries and bottles spirits. In 2002, Sukhinder Singh bottled his first selected single malt cask under the then-new The Single Malts of Scotland brand. Launched in 2019, the Reserve Cask range combines several selected casks into small batches bottled at 48%.
