The lengthy Pedro Ximénez finish defines this small-batch release: distilled on 11 October 2016, the Dalmunach spent its final 51 months in refill PX sherry hogsheads 364523, 364524 and 364525. James Eadie bottled the nine-year-old whisky in 2025 under the edition name The Golden Cup. The three casks yielded 1,426 bottles.

The whisky was bottled at 46% without added colouring or chill filtration. It is therefore below cask strength while retaining the individual character of the small batch.

Raisins, dates and dark honey form the fruity, sweet side, accompanied by caramel, vanilla and milk chocolate. Malt, dark coffee, light oak and cocoa add roasted and woody accents, while apricot and cinnamon broaden the aromatic range.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, raisins, dates and dark honey mingle with caramel, vanilla and milk chocolate, while red fruit, malt and subtle spice complete the bouquet.
• Palate: On the palate, malty sweetness and ripe dried fruit combine with toffee, dark coffee, light oak and a hint of cocoa.
• Finish: The finish is medium to long, fading gently with light sweetness, sherried fruit, delicate spice and mild dryness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Dalmunach is a Speyside malt distillery owned by Chivas Brothers. The new distillery was completed in 2014 on the site of the former Imperial Distillery, founded in 1897, and began production in October of that year. Its name comes from a nearby pool in the River Spey.

The James Eadie name goes back to the Scottish brewer James Eadie, who founded a brewing and bottling business in 1854 and also sold his own blended Scotch. Today, his great-great-grandson Rupert Patrick is behind the revived company.

As an independent bottler, James Eadie focuses on cask finishes as well as single-cask and small-batch releases. Each small batch marries only a few selected casks; this Dalmunach brought together three refill PX sherry hogsheads.
