Special Features:

A Cognac finish at Hardy brings together Colombian rum and French cask maturation. The Winter Edition uses rums distilled from sugar cane honey in 1974 and 1977. After maturing in Colombia, they spent a further 35 months in Limousin oak casks in France under the care of Hardy cellar master Mickaël Bouilly.

The rums used are between 45 and 48 years old. The rum from casks 10/74/2/41 and 10/77/3/40 was bottled in February 2022 at 42% alcohol. The release totals 971 numbered bottles, each containing 0.7 litres. This edition comes in a premium box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ginger biscuits open the nose, followed by stone fruit. Smoke, delicate toffee and strawberries sit behind them, with a hint of grape completing the aroma.
• Palate: Ginger leads into crushed black pepper and vanilla. Plums, toasted coconut and black cherries then emerge. Another wave of oak spice follows before red fruits come to the fore again.
• Finish: The long, lingering finish combines vanilla and oak with gentle spice and a little cigar smoke.

Distillery/Bottler:

At Dictador, Hernan Parra oversees rum production as the third generation of his family to do so. For the 2 Masters series, he selects mature vintage stocks and entrusts them to partners from other spirits and wine categories. These partners continue the maturation in their own cellars. A change of maturation location and the decisions of a second cellar master are therefore integral to the series.

The partner for this edition is Hardy, the Cognac house founded in 1863. Its cellar master, Mickaël Bouilly, comes from a winegrowing family in the Cognac region: both his father and grandfather worked in viticulture. At Hardy, he works with an extensive stock of eaux-de-vie held in thousands of casks. For this collaboration, he oversaw the finishing of the Dictador rum in France.
