Dictador Jerarquia Fino Sherry Casks 1980/2020 - 40 yo

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 43% | Chill filtration: Yes | Colouring: No

Special Features:

Dictador Jerarquía Fino 1980 combines four decades of cask maturation with the influence of American oak and a former sherry cask. This single-cask release from cask ExSh-1389 comprises 257 bottles. The rum was bottled in September 2020 at 43% and comes in gift packaging.

The Jerarquía collection opens up the Parra family's long-guarded cask reserves. Despite its considerable age, this Fino reveals a character shaped by honey and tropical fruit, complemented by chocolate and buttery notes.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, runny honey and ripe banana mingle with honeydew melon and red grapes. Crème anglaise and vanilla complement the fruity aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, banana meets candied ginger and milk chocolate. Notes of freshly baked, warm bread with salted butter are joined by a hint of grilled pineapple.
• Finish: The pineapple note continues into the finish, accompanied by green mango and papaya. A hint of mocha complements the tropical aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

Master Blender Hernan Parra oversees Dictador's cask selection, carrying forward his family's knowledge in its third generation. For the Vintages Collection, he selects individual casks from the family reserves. Jerarquía is one of these limited series, offering an opportunity to explore the distinct characters of long-aged rums.

This rum comes from Destilería Colombiana in Cartagena de Indias. The distillery that produced the Jerarquía reserves had already ceased operating when the collection was introduced. The surviving casks therefore preserve stocks from a chapter of production that has come to an end.
