Grianstad an Gheimhridh is the fifth release in the Wheel of the Year series and Dingle's interpretation of the winter solstice. This triple-distilled Irish Single Malt matured first in bourbon casks before being finished in Tawny Port casks. It is bottled at 50.5%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Fruity notes of currant jelly, pomegranate and red berries combine with spice and creamy sweetness. The name Grianstad roughly means “the sun standing still”. This limited release thus honours the Celtic celebration marking the shortest day of the year.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals blackcurrant jelly and pomegranate, accompanied by cinnamon toast and warm ginger notes.
• Palate: On the palate, red berries and dark chocolate meet warm clove notes and smooth, creamy fudge.
• Finish: The spice softens on the finish, followed by lingering sweetness on the tip of the tongue.

Distillery/Bottler:

The independent Dingle Distillery is located in the coastal town of the same name in County Kerry, in south-western Ireland. Oliver Hughes, Liam LaHart and Peter Mosley founded it in 2012, having previously worked in the Irish craft beer scene. Their aim was to bring whiskey production back to small batches and take a hands-on approach to maturation. Alongside Single Malt and Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, Dingle also produces gin and vodka.

With its nine-release Wheel of the Year series, Dingle links different cask interpretations to the Celtic annual cycle. Eight releases represent its festivals, while an additional release is dedicated to the traditional Wren's Day. Grianstad an Gheimhridh forms part of this series as an official distillery bottling.
