Discarded Grape Skin Chardonnay Vodka makes use of two winemaking by-products: grape pomace and the alcohol recovered when Chardonnay is dealcoholised. The remaining skins, stems and seeds are distilled to create the base. This distillate is then blended with the recovered wine alcohol, which retains aromas from the original grapes.

The vodka is bottled at 40%. Its fruit-forward character works in both a Martini and a Grape Skin Spritz. The reuse concept also extends to the packaging: all its components are recyclable.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with a clean, fresh green apple aroma. Almond croissant and a bright lychee note then emerge.
• Palate: The vodka is full-bodied and fruit-forward on the palate, with notes of Williams pear, guava and star fruit.
• Finish: Pink pepper spice lingers on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Discarded Spirits Co. belongs to William Grant & Sons and develops drinks using raw materials left over from other production processes. The brand began with a sweet vermouth featuring cascara, the outer husk of the coffee cherry. Banana Peel Rum gives banana skins another use. Grape Skin Vodka applies this approach to winemaking, using both solid pressing residues and recovered wine alcohol as aromatic ingredients.
