Special Features:

This Bas-Armagnac was distilled in 1962 and matured in wood for around six decades. The official bottling contains 0.7 litres at 40%, is non-chill-filtered, has no added colouring and is presented in a wooden box.

Fruit and sweet maturation notes jointly shape this vintage: mango, apricot and dark grapes sit alongside figs and sultanas. Vanilla and caramel round out the profile, while violets, delicate cinnamon and slightly tart cranberry provide contrasting notes.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe mango, apricot and dark grapes mingle with dried figs. Violets and a delicate cinnamon note complement the aromas.
• Palate: The Armagnac feels full-bodied on the palate. Intense sultana and vanilla notes give way to creamy caramel. Cranberry adds a subtle tartness and a fresh contrast.
• Finish: The long finish remains fruit-led and fades with subtle nuances.

Distillery/Bottler:

SCEA Claverie runs Domaine de Baraillon in Lannemaignan, on the border between Gers and Landes. The estate has belonged to the same family since 1748. Folle Blanche, Colombard and Baco grow on its 20 hectares of vineyards. The sandy loam soils are known locally as sables fauves.

The Domaine uses the traditional Armagnac distillation method and matures its spirits in regional oak casks in its own historic cellars. The 1962 vintage is also an official bottling from the Domaine.
