Special Features:

This Bas-Armagnac comes entirely from the 1979 vintage and was bottled after 45 years in January 2025 at 49% for Darroze's Unique Collection. Domaine le Tuc in Lagraulas cultivates 15 hectares of clay and limestone soils planted with Baco and Ugni Blanc. Jacques Salles himself distilled the wine continuously to a strength of 60% and aged the spirit in oak from the region. In the Unique Collection, each Armagnac matures in its own individually allocated oak cask with a capacity of 420 litres.

Prunes, orange peel and dried figs shape the fruity profile, complemented by pepper, nutmeg, liquorice and cloves. Long maturation brings supple tannins and a fruity finish with delicate oak spice. The Armagnac is not blended with spirits from other estates or vintages and is bottled without dilution at its natural cask strength. It contains no added colouring and is not chill-filtered.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: The nose is intense, revealing prunes, orange peel and dried figs. Delicate notes of pepper and nutmeg complement the fruit.
  • Palate: On the palate, the tannins feel rounded and supple. Fruity and spicy impressions mingle with liquorice, cloves and white pepper.
  • Finish: The finish lingers and remains fruity, accompanied by delicate oak spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Jacques Salles produced the Armagnac at Domaine le Tuc in Lagraulas, in Bas-Armagnac. Darroze selects spirits from independent estates, oversees their further maturation and bottles them. The house's history began around Jean Darroze's restaurant in Villeneuve-de-Marsan: his son Francis was already seeking out Armagnacs from Bas-Armagnac in the late 1960s. The house of Darroze was established in 1974; Marc Darroze joined in 1994 and continues this work centred on provenance. The selected spirits continue to mature in the cellars in Roquefort and Labastide d’Armagnac.
