Special Features:

After maturing in an ex-bourbon Hogshead, this Dufftown received a finish in an Armagnac cask. Distilled in 2008, the single malt matured for a total of 16 years. Berry Bros. & Rudd bottled the whisky from cask 07091 in 2024 at 54.7%, with a release of 103 bottles. No colouring was added, and the whisky was not chill-filtered.

Fruity sweetness and bitter accents shape this release: plum, fig and caramelised brown sugar contrast with dark chocolate and tobacco. In the long finish, vanilla and spice notes mingle with a subtle impression of oak-aged brandy.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, ripe plums and figs mingle with caramelised brown sugar. The impression is rich and velvety.
• Palate: The whisky feels smooth and mouth-filling on the palate. Dark chocolate and preserved fruits lead the flavour, accompanied by subtle tobacco leaf and Armagnac notes. Black tea and spices complement the fruit compote.
• Finish: The long finish brings spices and vanilla, with a light hint of oak-aged brandy. Woody notes, apricot and a little nutmeg add to the lingering impression.

Distillery/Bottler:

Dufftown Distillery is located in the town of the same name in Speyside and was founded in 1896. It produced the malt for this release, while Berry Bros. & Rudd handled the selection and independent bottling.

The London merchant Berry Bros. & Rudd has been in business since 1698 and has close ties to St James's Street. Its earliest surviving record of a Scotch whisky bottling under its own name dates from 1853. Independent spirits bottling has therefore been part of the company's history since the 19th century; today, its range includes single-cask whiskies and its own spirits series.
