Special Features:

Fresh, hand-picked elderflowers give this liqueur its floral character. They are macerated in Edinburgh Gin Classic, remaining in the gin for around a month to release their aromas. Adding sugar and reducing the alcohol strength to 20% turns it into a liqueur. Lemon juice completes the recipe.

The elderflowers meet the citrus peels, mulberries and resinous juniper character of the underlying Classic London Dry. Floral sweetness thus combines with the botanicals of the gin base. Elderflower was Edinburgh Gin's second liqueur, inspired by the abundant elderflowers that appear in Scotland in May and June.

The liqueur can be paired with pale sparkling wine or light tonic, perhaps garnished with a sprig of mint. It can also be served on its own over ice or with lemonade. The bottle contains 0.5 litres.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Clear elderflower aromas lead on the nose. Delicate hints of pear, peach and grapefruit peel complement the floral fragrance.
• Palate: The liqueur is delicate on the palate, with a silky sweetness. A hint of citrus adds to the flavour.
• Finish: Delicate notes of honeyed summer fruits and citrus peel linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Edinburgh Gin began in 2010, when Alex and Jane Nicol initially sold their gin from a van at local garden shows. These beginnings grew into a distillery offering classic gins, flavoured varieties and gin liqueurs. Raspberry Gin Liqueur followed as early as 2011.

Today, Edinburgh Gin Distillery is located in The Arches on East Market Street in Edinburgh's Old Town. Its current equipment includes the two copper CARL stills Lina and Annie, each with a capacity of 2000 litres, and the smaller experimental still Matilda, with a capacity of 250 litres. Distillery tours and make-your-own-gin classes introduce visitors to working with botanicals and their aromas.
