Special Features:
This Edradour was distilled on 16 May 2014 and matured for eleven years in the two first-fill Lagrein casks numbered 701 and 702. The whisky was bottled on 27 June 2025 at 48.2% ABV, yielding a total of 1,710 bottles.
Lagrein is an indigenous red grape variety from South Tyrol, characterised by dark fruit, spice and a velvety texture. In this release, Edradour’s malty Highland character meets ripe berries, sweet vinous fruit and oak spice.
After eleven years in the two first-fill casks, the fruit and oak are closely integrated. The whisky retains its natural colour, is non-chill-filtered and was bottled at 48.2% ABV.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: On the nose, malty honey notes and sweet vinous accents meet ripe berries.
- Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and spicy on the palate, with oak and sweet fruit forming a harmonious balance.
- Finish: The finish is long-lasting, combining warming oak spice with a light vinous sweetness that fades gently.
Distillery/Bottler:
The Edradour Distillery in Pitlochry is operated by Edradour Distillery Company Ltd. Founded in 1825 as a cooperative of local farmers, the distillery is known for small-scale craft production. The whisky was distilled there, matured on site in the two Lagrein casks and bottled as an official distillery release.
The first-fill Lagrein casks came from the South Tyrolean winery St. Michael-Eppan. They give this Edradour release its distinctive connection to the indigenous Lagrein grape variety.
