Maturation in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels shapes this twelve-year-old Fettercairn. Its fruit-led character ranges from pear to nectarine and tropical fruit, complemented by vanilla, gentle spices and subtle notes of roasted coffee, cloves and ginger. This Single Malt is bottled at 40% in a 0.7-litre bottle and comes in gift packaging.

The bottle design also reflects the production process: the ring around the neck and the grooves on the shoulder recall the stills’ cooling ring and the water flowing down over them. The unicorn in the brand emblem comes from the symbolism of Clan Ramsay, while copper-coloured accents on the packaging reference the stills.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Pear and vanilla meet gentle spice notes on the nose.
• Palate: Nectarine and tropical fruit bring a refreshing character to the palate. Subtle hints of roasted coffee, cloves and ginger complement the fruit.
• Finish: Sultanas mingle with roasted coffee and dark toffee on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Sir Alexander Ramsay founded Fettercairn in 1824 at the foot of Scotland’s Cairngorms. The distillery uses mountain water not only as an ingredient, but also to cool the outside of its stills.

In the mid-1950s, the distillery team experimented with running water over the outside of the stills to produce a lighter spirit. This led to a copper cooling ring that continuously distributes water over the copper surface. The additional cooling increases condensation inside: heavier vapours condense back into liquid, while lighter vapours continue to rise and are collected as spirit.
