For this single-cask release in the Exploration Series, Claxton's selected Fettercairn whisky from Fresh Tawny Port Hogshead EXP1089. Distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2026, the single malt is ten years old. The port cask brings together tropical fruit, strawberries, raisins and oak spice.

Claxton's bottled the whisky at 50% in 0.7-litre bottles. It is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings ripe papaya and pineapple with a subtle citrus note.
• Palate: On the palate, sweet strawberries and concentrated raisins meet oak spice.
• Finish: The finish lingers, fading with spice and a note of oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1824, Fettercairn Distillery stands at the foot of the Cairngorms in the Scottish Highlands. A cooling ring developed in the 1950s runs water over the outside of the stills. The cooled copper encourages heavier vapours to condense again, contributing to Fettercairn's characteristic tropical-fruit style.

Claxton's is an independent bottler with warehouses and a bottling facility at the Dalswinton Estate in south-west Scotland. Its work centres on selecting individual casks and the interaction between wood and spirit. This single malt was made at Fettercairn Distillery; Claxton's selected and bottled it for the Exploration Series.
