This single-cask bottling from Claxton's Exploration Series combines Fettercairn distilled in 2015 with the influence of a Fresh Tawny Port Hogshead. Claxton's selected the cask for the Exploration Series. It bears the number EXP1089; the whisky was distilled on 15 June 2015 and bottled on 9 February 2026. Claxton's bottled the ten-year-old whisky at 50% in 0.7-litre bottles. It retained its natural colour and was not chill-filtered.
Pineapple and ripe papaya define the tropical fruit character, while a delicate citrus note adds freshness. The bold, vinous influence of the Tawny Port cask emerges through sweet strawberry and concentrated raisin. Distinctive oak spice provides structure to the long, spicy finish.

Distillery/Bottler:
Fettercairn Distillery, which opened in 1824, stands at the foot of the Cairngorms. Since the 1950s, a cooling ring has channelled mountain water over the outside of the copper stills. This cools the copper more intensely, allowing mainly lighter vapours to rise for further processing; Fettercairn associates this method with its tropical house style.
Claxton's operates as an independent bottler at Dalswinton Bond in Dumfries and Galloway. The company carries out its cask work there, matures whisky in individual casks and bottles it when cask influence and distillate character are in balance. Its whiskies retain their natural colour and are not chill-filtered. The Exploration Series focuses on approachable single-cask bottlings and offers an introduction to different Scottish whisky regions.
