Finlaggan Moscatel Single Cask #019 - Ember & Oak Cask Friends

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 52% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

This single-cask bottling was created for Ember & Oak Cask Friends and finished in a Moscatel sweet wine cask. The whisky from cask 019 was bottled in November 2025 at 52% ABV, with a release of 300 bottles. It has no added colouring and is not chill-filtered.

The Moscatel finish complements the powerful peat smoke with caramel, dried fruit and juicy figs. Toasted oak, dry ash, spices and an oily texture provide a distinctive counterpoint.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines intense peat smoke, sweet caramel and dried fruit.
• Palate: On the palate, smoke and peat meet juicy figs, toasted oak and dry ash, accompanied by an oily texture.
• Finish: The long, oily finish combines lingering smoke with fruity sweetness and spices.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Vintage Malt Whisky Company Limited bottled this Finlaggan for Ember & Oak Cask Friends. The malt comes from an undisclosed Islay distillery, and Finlaggan is part of the independent bottler’s brand portfolio.

Brian Crook founded The Vintage Malt Whisky Company in 1992 after many years in the Scottish whisky industry. Finlaggan became the company’s flagship brand. Its name refers to Loch Finlaggan on Islay, whose islands formed the seat of power of the MacDonald Lords of the Isles during the Middle Ages.
