Special Features:

The Sauternes finish brings sweet fruit into contrast with this Islay single malt’s robust peat smoke. The whisky first matured in oak casks before being finished in a cask that had held Sauternes sweet wine. On the palate, tropical fruit and lemon mingle with smoke and peaty ash.

This single-cask bottling from cask #020 was released for the German market in May 2025. It yielded 300 bottles at 54.5%. The whisky has no added colouring and is not chill-filtered; the 0.7-litre bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Sweet peat smoke and heather shape the nose. Honey, ripe apricot and candied orange peel follow, with a hint of vanilla.
• Palate: On the palate, robust smoke and peaty ash meet tropical fruit and lemon. Peach, mead and creamy vanilla add depth, alongside a light spice of oak and nutmeg.
• Finish: The finish is long and warming. Honeyed sweetness and tropical fruit linger as the smoke gradually fades.

Distillery/Bottler:

Finlaggan is a brand of independent bottler The Vintage Malt Whisky Company Limited. Brian Crook founded the company in 1992 to make Scottish malts from different distilleries available to drinkers. Finlaggan became its flagship brand.

The brand takes its name from Loch Finlaggan on Islay. The islands in the loch were once a centre of the Lords of the Isles, and the chiefs of Clan Donald used Finlaggan Castle as their seat.
