Floki Distillers Choice Double Wood - Sheep Dung Smoked - Birch Finish

Volume: 0.5 litres | Alcohol content: 45% | Chill filtration: Yes | Colouring: No

Special Features:

This double-wood bottling combines a traditional Icelandic smoking method with a birch wood finish. Eimverk smokes the malted barley over burning sheep dung. This method was used in Iceland for centuries to preserve food and provide heat, and it is still used for traditional foods and Icelandic malt.

The single malt matures in two different types of wood. Its final stage is a finish in a cask made from Icelandic birch wood, which helps shape the profile's resinous accent.

This limited-edition distillery bottling contains 0.5 litres, has an alcohol content of 45% and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Earthy impressions of dried straw and seaweed are prominent on the nose. Subtle citrus and smoke notes mingle with tree resin and dried flowers.
• Palate: On the palate, the lively acidity of lime and lemon must meets the sweetness of roasted barley malt. White pepper and ashy smoke add spicy accents, while black tea deepens the umami character.
• Finish: The finish is long, malty and balanced, with a tart note, light earthy smoke and a hint of straw.

Distillery/Bottler:

Eimverk is a family-run distillery in Garðabær, founded in 2009 with the aim of producing Icelandic spirits from local ingredients. For Flóki, it uses a hardy Icelandic barley variety adapted to the country's short, intense summers. The distillery developed the Flóki recipe over four years through 163 trial distillations and maturation tests. Its approach also includes in-house-developed distilling equipment, custom-built pot stills and artisanal production methods.
