Special Features:

African & Asian Fusion brings together two different rum styles: heavier pot-still rum from Ghana and lighter sugarcane juice rum from Vietnam. The blend matured briefly in American oak, with all maturation taking place under continental conditions. This small-batch bottling thus unites African and Asian spirits through shared cask maturation. The rum was bottled without added sugar.

Light and tropical fruit notes mingle with vegetal and floral accents, vanilla, honeyed sweetness and wood. The rum can be enjoyed neat or in cocktails. The release comprises 1,319 bottles, each containing 0.7 litres at 45.2% alcohol. A lion and a tiger face one another on the front label.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, banana, citrus and orchard fruit combine with vegetal notes. A little glue and a vanilla sweetness add further nuances.
• Palate: Wood is more prominent at first on the palate. Yellow fruit, light ester notes and honey follow. Vegetal hints and dried flowers round out the flavour.
• Finish: Light woody notes linger on the finish alongside a pleasant sweetness of fruit and honey.

Distillery/Bottler:

FRC stands for Flensburg Rum Company. The company behind the bottling is Oldman Spirits GmbH, based in Jübek in Schleswig-Holstein. The FRC range includes blends from several countries, selected single casks and small batches such as African & Asian Fusion.

The idea for Oldman Spirits emerged among friends in 2013. Managing director Thomas Altmann subsequently began experimenting with his own blends of Caribbean rums and spirits from neighbouring continents. The company also works with Schleswiger Werkstätten on production.
