Special Features:

This Gelston's follows maturation in former bourbon casks with a sherry finish. For this additional maturation, the twelve-year-old Irish single malt spends a further 115 to 160 days in casks that previously held Pedro Ximénez sherry.

Fruity sweetness, chocolate and cinnamon spice shape its non-smoky character. Malty and nutty notes complement this combination. The whiskey is bottled at 43% in a 0.7-litre bottle and comes in gift packaging. Its colour is free from added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe blackberries and juicy nectarines lead the nose, accompanied by a delicate cocoa note. Apple, strawberry and dessert wine broaden the fruity bouquet before notes of honey-roasted nuts follow.
• Palate: On the palate, orange peel and dark chocolate combine with the sweetness of rum-soaked raisins and cane sugar. Dried fruit and white chocolate give way to malty notes. Almond, apple cake and hazelnut add to the flavours.
• Finish: The whiskey has a long finish with a distinct cinnamon note and lingering peppery spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Gelston's has its roots in Belfast's wine and whiskey trade: Samuel Gelston founded the company in 1830. After his death, Harry Neill took over the business in 1869. He expanded its trade in Ireland and opened sales channels to Australia and New Zealand through his brothers' companies.

Five generations later, Johnny Neill continues the family legacy. The brand's work encompasses selecting Irish whiskeys, maturing them, blending them and bottling them. Different cask finishes broaden the range and also give this single malt its distinctive character.
