This Girvan Single Grain was distilled on 4 September 2007 and finished in Oloroso octave cask 2147668. Duncan Taylor bottled it on 20 January 2026 at 18 years of age and 55.3%. The limited release comprises 84 bottles; the whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Toffee and caramel form the sweet core of this bottling. Fruity Oloroso sherry notes meet wood and black pepper, adding a spicy edge to its robust profile.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals intense notes of caramel and toffee. Spice, gentle sweetness and a delicate woody note follow.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and sweet on the palate. Caramel and toffee dominate, accompanied by black pepper and a slight creaminess.
• Finish: The finish is long-lasting, combining spicy impressions with gentle sweetness. Delicate woody notes add further depth.

Distillery/Bottler:

Girvan Distillery was built in just nine months in 1963. Charles Gordon and around 400 people from the surrounding area brought the site into operation in time for Christmas. In 1990, the distillery commissioned its first patent still, enabling a distinctive method of producing grain whisky.

Independent bottler Duncan Taylor selected this Girvan for The Octave series and gave it an Oloroso finish. Small octave casks have a larger internal wood surface area relative to the volume of liquid, allowing the wood to exert a more pronounced influence during the finish. The octave finish therefore concentrates the light underlying grain character with toffee, caramel, fruity sherry, peppery spice and distinctive woody notes.
